Job Description

Job Summary:

  • This position involves performing organic chemistry syntheses in a manufacturing environment, maintaining inventory, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • The role requires collaboration with various teams, participation in product development, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform organic chemistry syntheses in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understand written production documents and perform processes to maintain product inventory.
  • Possess scientific understanding of team products and suggest improvements to manufacturing processes.
  • Produce and analyze reagents, components, and finished products as per the manufacturing plan.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, WIP, and finished products using advanced ERP functions.
  • Analyze and interpret scientific data utilizing specialized technical knowledge.
  • Maintain communication with representatives from other departments and teams as required.
  • Actively participate in team activities like conflict resolution and team building.
  • Recognize manufacturing problems, perform experiments, and recommend corrections to processes.
  • Keep accurate records of manufacturing and product development work.
  • Critically evaluate, revise, or create process documents to ensure quality manufacturing processes.
  • Strive to improve product quality through efficient manufacturing processes and quality testing.
  • Communicate the importance of total quality to team members.
  • Achieve department goals related to quality, on-time work completion, and safety.
  • Seek additional training or education for career development.
  • Initiate and implement experiments to address failures in product or processes.
  • Develop and execute a manufacturing schedule consistent with master schedule requirements.
  • Identify and interpret the scientific basis of each manufacturing process used by the team.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams as required.
  • Actively participate in New Product Development and process development activities.
  • Collaborate with R&D or Manufacturing Sciences as needed.
  • Work with EH&S to ensure guidelines are followed.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry discipline.
  • Willing to take new grad with lab experience from school.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry.
  • 1-3 years of experience with polymer chemistries.

  • Solid technical writing skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills to evaluate, prioritize, and handle multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret and summarize scientific results.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to lead and provide work direction.
  • Work in a team-based environment to manufacture research and commercial products.
  • Implement production and large-scale manufacturing procedures to meet quality requirements.
  • Actively participate and contribute to New Product Development and process improvement.
