Job Description
Job Summary:
- The Lab Technician will support daily operations within company high-temperature Thermophysical Properties Lab.
- This role involves working closely with scientists and engineers to conduct thermal testing, operate lab equipment, prepare materials, and support research activities in a fast-paced lab environment.
- The position is highly hands-on and focused on safely operating high-temperature equipment while ensuring accurate testing and documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor high-temperature furnaces used for thermal processing and testing.
- Prepare samples, fixtures, and materials according to testing procedures.
- Execute test runs and maintain testing schedules.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements while working with high-temperature equipment and molten glass materials.
- Record test conditions, document lab activities, and maintain accurate data tracking.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians to support research priorities and timelines.
- Assist with setup, development, and stabilization of new lab equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in materials science, chemistry, geology, ceramics, or a related technical field.
- Candidates must be comfortable with instrumentation, following experiment plans, material handling/ processing.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
- Comfortable working independently in a hands-on lab environment.
- Willingness to work around high-temperature systems and follow strict safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-temperature furnaces, heat treatment, ceramics or glass processing.
- Familiarity with Lab documentation systems & LIMS or test tracking systems.
- Experience in fast-paced research or development labs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with scientists and engineers.
