Job Summary:
- The Formulations Technician I supports the manufacture of high-quality diagnostic products through the preparation, processing, testing, and documentation of reagents, dyes, buffers, and other formulation materials.
- This is a hands-on laboratory and manufacturing position requiring strong attention to detail, accurate measurement and calculations, careful handling of biological and chemical materials, and the ability to consistently follow written procedures in a controlled environment.
- The technician will work with a variety of laboratory instruments and manufacturing equipment and will collaborate with team members across Manufacturing, Quality, and other functional areas to ensure products are prepared accurately and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense biological reagents, dyes, buffers, and solutions using accurate weighing, pipetting, dilution, mixing, and pH adjustment techniques.
- Operate laboratory equipment including spectrophotometers/UV-Vis, pH meters, balances, and pipettes.
- Perform manufacturing activities using aseptic technique while following approved procedures and safety requirements.
- Complete batch records and other production documentation accurately and maintain material/product inventories.
- Support filling, labeling, packaging, and processing of finished products.
Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate process or quality concerns while managing multiple production activities and schedules.
Required Education & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic laboratory or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written procedures with strong attention to detail.
- Basic math skills, including unit conversions, concentrations, dilutions, weights, and volumes.
- Ability to safely work with biological and chemical materials both independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Experience preparing reagents, buffers, dyes, or laboratory solutions.
- Experience with aseptic technique and laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience in a GMP/cGMP, GLP, ISO-regulated, cleanroom, or other controlled environment.
