Assistant Scientist

Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Associate Scientist/Engineer is responsible for supporting studies to establish oral solid formulations.
• This includes execution of laboratory and pilot plant work, design experimental formulation studies, and conduct material characterization and formulation testing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct development activities related to developing oral formulations.
• Conduct oral product batch processing, material characterization and formulation testing.
• Design and optimize formulation using design of experience approach.

Education and Experience:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or related engineering discipline (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
• Previous experience working in oral formulation development and processing required.
• Experience in oral formulation preparation and testing techniques preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of formulation development.
• Knowledge of oral product processing – blending, tableting, encapsulation etc.
• Knowledge of data trending and tracking, including use of statistical analysis software a plus.
• Demonstrate advanced problem-solving ability / mentality, technical adeptness and logical thinking.
• Ability to communicate honestly, transparently, and effectively with peers, department management and cross functional peers.

Working Conditions (US Only):

• The incumbent will be working 10% to 20% of the time in an office environment.
• The incumbent will be working 80% to 90% of the time in a manufacturing and/or laboratory setting.
