Job Description

Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Biospecimen Coordinator.
  • This role is essential to our daily operations, ensuring that sample shipments are processed, triaged, and tracked with high precision.
  • You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate chain of custody and supporting various workflow improvements within the BioSample Management Group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs sample accessioning in CDx CAP/CLIA Laboratory.
  • Follows standard procedures in performing the tasks, knowledgeable with CAP, CLIA and other accrediting and regulatory agency requirements in laboratory practice and utilizes good documentation practices and following laboratory safety policies.
  • Leads one or more process improvement workstreams within the BioSample Management Group as assigned.
  • Sample Intake & Triage: Receive, open, and triage incoming sample shipments, directing them to the appropriate testing locations.
  • Accessioning & QC: Perform sample accessioning and conduct quality control checks on demographic data entry to ensure accuracy.
  • Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding held or rejected samples, resolving issues promptly.
  • Labeling & Documentation: Execute sample labeling and perform final quality control checks to verify labeling accuracy.
  • Pathology Support: Image stained slides returned from Pathology, ensuring all deliverables are met within established timelines.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage internal and client requests, including global sample shipments, while maintaining rigorous chain of custody standards.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the team inbox to ensure all requests are tracked and completed.
  • Process Improvement: Lead and drive deliverables for assigned process improvement workstreams within the Bio Sample Management Group.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior knowledge or experience with sample tracking software is a plus.
