Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Completing manufacturing processes in a laboratory setting according to SOPs in Research Use Only (RUO) environments.
  • This involves conducting buffer preparation, dilutions, reagent formulation, and bulk dilutions of purified proteins.
  • Additionally, we apply pH meter, refractometer, and various protein characterization techniques to ensure real-time and accurate data entry into batch records.
  • Lastly, you will collaborate on important revisions to technical documents, including standard operating procedures and manufacturing batch records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads, understands, and implements written laboratory procedures.
  • Handles and works with biological and chemical reagents.
  • Works with large-scale buffer carboys, peristaltic pumps, and pipettes.
  • Maintains knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for relevant products/materials.
  • Builds a safe work environment by maintaining safety awareness and compliance with EH&S programs and activities.
  • Identifies potential process issues and promptly reports findings.
  • Assists in developing, writing and instituting vital documents.
  • Communicates with multiple functional groups with a variety of technical backgrounds.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience:

A combination of education and experience that confer the needed manufacturing, scientific, and laboratory technical skills will be considered such as:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Preferably 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment or R&D laboratory.
  • Experience in solution preparation, dilution techniques, and basic laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and/or GMP manufacturing environments is a plus.

  • Possesses a basic theoretical understanding of protein chemistry and associated techniques.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing-related computer software, with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Demonstrates contagious optimism and a ‘can do’ demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and nonstandard work schedules as required to meet production schedule.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Operates within a clean, controlled manufacturing lab environment with technical equipment.
  • Regularly lifts weights up to 20 pounds independently and occasionally heavier weights with assistance or equipment.
  • Majority of the time task requires standing for extended periods during work.
  • Works safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Working Conditions/Physical Requirements may change as required.
  • Comfortable working in a +4oC Cold-Room environment.
