Job Description

Job Summary:

  • As a Scientist I, you will play a crucial role in our internal research efforts.
  • We are seeking a highly creative scientist with expertise in cell culture bioprocessing to join our team in Grand Island.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for planning and conducting studies focused on the development of Client cell culture media formulations and optimizing cell therapy processes.
  • Our Scientist I will work independently and alongside a team of research scientists.
  • As a member of our Bioproduction R&D team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and highly-skilled cross-functional team.
  • Together, we develop products and optimize processes for the biopharmaceutical industry, analyzing the impact of cell culture conditions on metabolism and recombinant protein production and optimizing cell therapy workflows.
  • Your work will contribute to the manufacture of recombinant therapeutics, as well as gene therapy and cell therapy applications.
  • Additionally, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot and optimize existing products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute experimental studies.
  • Analyze experimental data and generate technical reports.
  • Develop laboratory protocols.
  • Collaborate with research scientists to drive innovation.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems associated with R&D projects.
  • Investigate and develop new methods and technologies to improve development workflows
  • Maintain accurate electronic lab notebook.
  • Interact with internal departments.
  • Work independently with general direction given.
  • Promote safety protocols in the laboratory and adhere to applicable standards.
  • Be open to flexible hours.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of experience in Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Expertise in small-scale mammalian cell culture with various cell lines (e.g., CHO, T cells, HEK293, Vero, MDCK).
  • Knowledge of bioprocessing workflows including protein production, vaccine or cell therapy applications.
  • Data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with small-scale bioreactors and related laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with statistical design of experiments and related software.
  • Excels in interpersonal skills.
  • Have cell culture experience.
