Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the development of new makeup formulations and maintaining existing products within established timelines.
  • Executes routine laboratory and pilot lab work under daily supervision, including batch preparation, physical testing, and data recording in accordance with defined protocols.
  • Proficient in using, calibrating, and maintaining standard lab equipment.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members, contributes to team goals, and builds good relationships with work partners.
  • Continuously learns and applies best practices in project development from bench to production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. General laboratory maintenance:

  • Maintain raw material inventory, fill product samples, maintain bulk/standards inventory, and organize laboratory files.
  • Proactively updates supervisor on status & flags issues / help required.

2. Formulation assistance:

  • Calculate the amount of ingredients needed for various batch requirements.
  • Prepare and pre-weight raw materials and pre-mixes as determined by formula requirements for batch preparation.
  • Combine and process weighted ingredients, observe batch throughout manufacturing process.
  • Record all notable characteristics.
  • Assist in performing product stability testing, observe and learn about the relationship between processes, raw materials and other interactions taking place.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.
  • Learn how to use all lab scale equipment and related SOP’s for batching, testing and quality purposes.
  • Learn and become proficient at basics of corporate system for management of formulas and stability including inputting and submitting batch cards and other pertinent data and procedures into R&D systems.
  • Ensure all health, safety, GMP and data-integrity guidelines are always adhered to.

Education:

  • College diploma or minimum 2 year university degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant scientific field.

Experience:

  • Hands on lab skills, computer skills, operation of lab equipment such as, pH meter, scale, viscometer, and mixers/blender.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Light to medium lifting – pails and boxes10kg or less.
  • May require long hours of standing when preparing lab batches.
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and ball milling operation may require some light lifting.
  • Able to cope in a demanding fast pace stressful laboratory environment.
  • Maintain a clean laboratory working environment.

Interview process: 

  • 1-2 rounds of interviews.
