Job Description

Job Summary:

  • As a Quality Control Technician, you will ensure that products are of consistent quality by performing wet chemistry testing, and GC, GC/MS analysis of Raw Materials and Finished Products in support of Taste, Texture and Health division.
  • Additionally, you will be assisting Quality Assurance in OOS investigations and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze raw material, in-process, and finished product samples via GC and GC/MS according to established SOP’s.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on GC and GC/MS.
  • Provides Sensory Support in both preparation and evaluation of ingredients and finished products.
  • Follows all Lab and Site safety and GMP rules.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner and completes all paperwork correctly.
  • Ensure instrument calibrations are within tolerances and recalibrate as needed.
  • Sample and test/retest raw materials and approve/reject based upon the results.
  • If reject, let Production and Purchasing know immediately.
  • Also create non-conformances for the rejections.
  • Perform tests required for specification sheets, MSDS’ and nutrient information sheets.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Offer suggestions for solving problems and expediting tasks.
  • Train new employees in the testing and procedures of the QC lab.
  • Ensure adherence to all management systems including, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000, with an understanding of Client’s Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position’s jurisdiction.
  • Compliance with all company policies is required.
  • Other functions as required (nonessential functions).

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Food science, or related scientific field.
  • 3-5 years hands-on industry
  • GC, GC/MS experience preferred.
  • Experience in a flavor / food manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel and standard MS office software is required.
  • LIMS and SAP experience preferred.
