Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Metrology Lab Technician will provide technical and administrative support to the Metrology team while collaborating closely with Quality Control (QC) and Analytical Development (AD) laboratories.
  • This individual will be responsible for coordinating equipment calibration and maintenance activities, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with documentation and scheduling requirements.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior laboratory experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and coordinate calibration, maintenance, and verification activities for laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Schedule and manage external suppliers and service providers, including coordinating on-site visits, obtaining quotes, and ensuring timely contract renewals.
  • Maintain and update equipment records, calibration schedules, and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and support all administrative functions for the Metrology team, including documentation, tracking, reporting, and data organization.
  • Collaborate with QC, AD, and Metrology teams to ensure equipment readiness, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track and manage calibration and service schedules using Smartsheet, Excel, and other data management tools.
  • Assist in audits and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate, up-to-date documentation.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and vendor communications for metrology-related issues.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with external suppliers or service vendors is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous Quality Control (QC) or Analytical Development (AD) laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, calibration, and maintenance processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Smartsheet.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred.
