Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Provides non-routine polymer analytical testing support to the Materials Testing, Analysis, and Characterization (MTAC) Laboratory, primarily in the polymer mechanical and rheological test areas.
  • Partners closely with R&D engineers and scientists to deliver high-quality data that supports product development, material characterization, and regulatory submissions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes polymer testing on products, raw materials, in-process materials, or other samples, primarily in the mechanical and rheological test areas (including but not limited to dynamical mechanical analysis, tensile, and rotational rheometry).
  • Uses knowledge of polymer sample preparation methods and multiple mechanical and analytical methods and techniques to support material testing and analysis.
  • Performs routine data analysis.
  • Reviews data, documentation, data analysis, and reports from other analysts in similar test areas.
  • May train to and execute testing in other areas as needed.
  • Uses rigorous documentation practices to execute laboratory testing for regulatory submission efforts.
  • Consults with and reports data to internal customers.
  • Attends team meetings and provides updates on the progress of ongoing testing.
  • Communicates results and progress effectively through written and verbal channels.
  • Performs periodic maintenance on laboratory instrumentation as well as troubleshooting support in partnership with client vendors.
  • Assists with implementation of new technology and provides leadership in laboratory techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Polymer Science, Engineering, or Chemistry (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with polymer mechanical and/or rheological testing techniques.
  • Experience with TA Instruments instrumentation, particularly RSA-G2 Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer and/or ARES-G2 Rheometer.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
