Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Client’s Genomic Medicine Unit based in Waltham, MA is looking for a highly motivated candidate focused on next generation sequencing for the development of Client technological strategies in capsid discovery.
  • The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the Genomic Medicine Unit in identifying improved AAV capsids through sequencing of plasmids/ viruses/ animal tissues to enable gene therapy programs from early discovery research through development, in a variety of disease areas.
  • This is a 1-year contract role, with possibility of extension.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead the implementation of next-generation sequencing techniques to characterize plasmid/ AAV libraries.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with team members to process RNA samples for RNA-seq of in vitro and in vivo screening studies.
  • Implementation of multiple state-of-the-art techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry.
  • Initiate, design, analyze, and present experiments at internal meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and analyses.
  • Maintain effective communication with manager and other colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biotechnology or allied fields with at least two years of direct next-generation sequencing experience.
  • Prior experience with the following is preferred.
  • Amplicon sequencing of DNA libraries.
  • RNA-seq with cells and/ or tissues.
  • Operation of Illumina NextSeq instruments.
  • Familiarity with NGS data analysis platforms.
  • Experience with laboratory automation for sequencing.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage and prioritize schedules, quality control steps, and data analysis.
  • Excellent speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
