Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Performs functions which support the operation of the Scientific Product Support laboratory and executes internal and cross-departmental studies for product development, new applications and failure analysis.
  • Operates sample preparation instrumentation, maintains supplies, completes necessary logs/records and performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Must be comfortable in a laboratory environment working with various chemical and biological samples.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates basic specimen equipment
  • Executes experimental protocols according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Records data on forms and reviews work for accuracy/completeness.
  • Adheres to all laboratory and biohazard safety procedures.
  • On-time completion of all required trainings.
  • Stocks & monitors laboratory supplies.
  • Participates in LEAN initiatives and provides observations to improve lab workflow.
  • Delivers short presentations to internal group with assistance.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of laboratory experience.

Skills:

  • Committed to high quality standards and timely completion of tasks; punctual.
  • Communicates clearly and accurately with others; works cooperatively in teams.
  • Organized; capable of multitasking.
  • Able to perform liquid pipetting under supervision; familiar with chemical dilutions.
  • Understands basic functions of MS Word and Excel & some familiarity with business applications (e.g. Oracle).

Physical Demands:

  • Sit; use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lifting/pushing/pulling and carrying products weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Potential Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels.
  • Potential Exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials.
  • Safety Shoes compliant with site specific policies/procedures must be worn in designated areas
  • Potential Exposure to blood.
  • Exposure to biological specimens (biohazards).
