Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Brief statement summarizing the primary objective or purpose of the position.
  • The Laboratory Technician supports the execution of laboratory activities to advance the development and evaluation of medical devices.
  • This role performs basic laboratory techniques, prepares materials and solutions, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • The Laboratory Technician contributes to the efficiency of laboratory operations by maintaining accurate records, adhering to good documentation practices, and assisting in the execution of experiments and test methods under supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine microbial testing as required, accurately record test data, analyze results, generate reports, and communicate findings to test requestors.
  • Prepare and maintain microbial media according to established protocols.
  • Prepare, handle, and maintain microbial cultures in compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, including stocking, tracking, and ordering to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation in proper working condition, including routine checks and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure equipment calibrations are performed and documented on schedule.
  • Support a safe and compliant work environment by sustaining laboratory cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety practices.
  • Accurately complete and submit timesheets and other administrative records within required timelines.
  • Document experimental methods, observations, results, and conclusions in laboratory notebooks with accuracy and completeness.
  • Comply with Client’s Code of Ethics, as well as all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all required training programs on time to maintain compliance and technical competency.
  • Provide cross-functional or departmental support as requested by the immediate supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum level of education/experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline OR an Associate degree with equivalent laboratory experience.
  • 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience (industry, academic, or internship).
  • Awareness of microbiology or biology techniques, with preference for experience in media and material preparation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Foundational laboratory skills with ability to follow established procedures.
  • Understanding of how material preparation impacts downstream biological testing.
  • Awareness of design control and quality system regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820).
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to high-quality work.
  • Basic organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to recognize issues and seek guidance for troubleshooting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability to new protocols, technologies, and shifting project priorities.
  • Demonstrated authenticity, accountability, and collaborative mindset.
