Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- First, the registration and inventory of research samples.
- The individual will work with staff scientists to catalog research samples stored in -70C freezers and enter information into a sample management database.
- Second, the qualified candidate will perform laboratory manager functions including, but not limited to, generating work orders, scheduling equipment maintenance and conducting lab safety inspections.
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field.
- Candidates with data entry or sample management experience.
- Previous industry experience working with biological samples preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with MS Office (Excel) or other spreadsheet-based applications.
- Understanding of basic laboratory and cell culture techniques.
- Knowledge of sample repository/sample inventory software / Benchling databases a plus.
- Familiarity with biosafety level classification or infectious disease classification (BSL2 or BSL3 environments) a plus.
Schedule Notes:
- 6 months assignment.
- The ideal candidate must be comfortable primarily working by themselves, but be willing to work in a small team when needed and able to take direction.
- Extension possibility.
- Hybrid assignment, (1-2 days/ week remote), prior approvals needed from Client supervisor to work remotely.
