Job Summary:
- Internal relationships include working closely with technical staff and scientists within the MPS department as well as with the head of MPS.
- Moreover, the individual will work closely with scientists within the cardiometabolic therapeutic areas across the global Research & Early Development (R&ED) organization.
- The Associate Scientist may interact with external research collaborators within academia- & industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hands-on responsibility for planning, executing, analyzing and present data from advanced in vitro models (MPS).
- Provides scientific or technical input and training related to primary cell culture, sample processing, biochemical analysis.
- Analyzes data with high degree of sophistication, connecting disparate datasets to reach conclusions, and suggesting direction on experiments.
- Responsible for drafting study protocols and electronic lab notebook reports with limited supervisor input.
- Makes recommendations for new procedures and continuously focuses on optimizing current processes and procedures Effectively communicates and presents ideas and data to cross-functional local and global project teams.
- Studies scientific literature to support research projects and expands the capabilities of scientific research through the evaluation of methodology and implementation of new technologies.
- Share better practice sharing and implementation within the research environment.
- Develops enhanced cross-cultural understanding to effectively interact with relevant stakeholders in the global organization.
- Manages site inventory.
- Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Maintains the laboratories and performs other job-related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Education Level: BS/BA.
- At least 3 years relevant technical experience required.
- Master’s Degree not required.
- The individual works independently on projects of moderate complexity & with limited instruction for activities of high complexity.
- Can perform highly complex task and demonstrates high degree of method or technical knowledge
The Associate Scientist has extensive experience within multiple of the following areas:
- Culture of mammalian cells and tissues – Molecular biology techniques.
- Standard analytical methods e.g., RNAseq, PCR, Flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISA/multiplex.
Workflow automation. - High content imaging – Programming (Python or R).
- scRNAseq – Cardiometabolic disease biology.
