Job Description
Job Summary:
- We are seeking a laboratory facing Scientist to be part of a team focused on the development of Client gene therapy technologies for the treatment of ocular disease.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead research projects to support the identification of therapeutic candidates from discovery into IND enabling studies.
- Execute studies to generate proof of concept data.
- Apply expertise to design, develop scientific activities/projects to identify therapeutic candidates.
- Demonstrate scientific excellence, initiate, design, and execute experiments/studies in support of goals in a time sensitive manner.
- Collaborate extensively with internal teams and be an impactful contributor and member of project teams.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree plus minimum 3 years relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD in molecular or cellular biology, neuroscience, or related discipline with 0-2 years Post Doc experience.
- Experience in preparing high quality documents including technical reports, presentations, and experimental protocols.
- 1yr industry experienced (biotech or pharma, can be through co-op, internship, or collaboration).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong background in molecular biology lab-based skills.
- Background/experience in gene therapy preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiastic and fast learner who pays close attention to detail.
- Ability to be flexible and pivot with changing priority of pace and projects.
- Basic familiarity with preclinical therapeutic pipelines.
- Ability to work to timeline and contribute to ongoing projects and activities.
Preferred/ Nice to have skills:Â
- Ocular disease experience, not required (seen as a plus).
- Histology experience (seen as a plus).
- High throughput and automation (seen as a plus).
- Gene therapy (seen as a plus).
