Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Join a team dedicated to supporting cell culture process development and other activities within Upstream Bio Process Development, Biopharmaceutics Development (R&D) This individual is familiar with sterile technique, cell culture lab equipment, and has good laboratory and documentation practices.
  • This individual must be willing to learn new laboratory techniques, on the job training will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routine sampling and data entry of cell culture experiments.
  • Routine lab activities: include stocking, organizing, and inventory of consumables/supplies.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment operation (BGA, OSMO, CEDEX, FLEX, and Vicell).
  • Assist with preparation of small batch quantities (?10L) media and buffer solutions as needed.
  • Clean and assist in general housekeeping of laboratories, common equipment, and other parts of the building as needed.
  • Work and communicate within a team if clarification is needed to proceed with a job task.
  • Assist in the drafting and review of document procedural records (i.e. SOP) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Operate complex systems and equipment in strict accordance with SOP’s and safety guidelines.
  • May involve work with hazardous materials.

Education:

  • Minimum of AA Degree Required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and terminology.
  • This individual is expected to be able to perform standard algebraic calculations for lab work such as serial dilutions and concentration calculations for solutions.
  • Having a basic understanding of dimensional analysis is a plus.
  • Should be able handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to carry out tasks according to verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment.
  • Requires physical demands of lifting up to 30-35 pounds. (occasionally)
