Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The Bioassays and High-Throughput Screens (BHTS) group at client is hiring a skilled Assay Scientist
  • This role is a 50/50 split between compound management, preparing assay-ready plates, maintaining the compound library, and coordinating shipments to CRO partners, and assay development, miniaturizing and running biochemical/cell-based assays in 384-well, and 1536-well formats to support weekly small molecule testing.
  • The ideal candidate holds a B.S. with up to 4 years or M.S. with up to 2 years in a bioscience lab, has experience with high-throughput workflows, automation/liquid handling, and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Compound Management (50%):

  • Process compound requests and prepare assay-ready plates using automation and sample management tools.
  • Coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments to CRO partners and collaborators.
  • Maintain compound library integrity, accurate records, and quality control.
  • Perform routine liquid handler maintenance and troubleshooting.

2. Assay Development (50%):

  • Develop, miniaturize, and execute biochemical/cell-based assays (384-well, 1536-well).
  • Use automation and liquid handlers to support HTS and hit-to-lead efforts.
  • Analyze and interpret assay data with attention to quality and reproducibility.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with up to 4 years of relevant lab experience, or M.S. with up to 2 years of experience.
  • Basic cell culture experience.
  • Experience in compound management, LIMS/databases, and high-throughput screening workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with plate-based biochemical/cell assays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with automation platforms and liquid handling robotics
