Job Summary:
- Seeking an exceptional organic chemist to join our Process Chemistry group.
- This contract position resides within the Pharmaceutical Sciences organization.
- The candidate will work full-time onsite and execute laboratory activities related to the development of robust drug substance manufacturing processes across various phases of drug substance development.
- The ideal candidate will conduct multi-step organic synthesis, route scouting and optimization, purification and characterization of intermediates and final compounds to support drug substance scale-up activities.
- An ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in modern synthetic organic chemistry and analytical techniques such as NMR, LCMS, UPLC/HPLC (Empower proficiency) and an understanding of early drug development processes and experiments.
- Experience in small-molecule process development and scale up is highly desired, however not required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, planning and execution of multi-step synthesis, process research and development as a cross-functional team member.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Implement process enhancements, scientific approaches and technical improvements to deliver robust chemical processes.
- Document and report experimental results and findings.
- Draft and review technical documents (development reports, patent applications, tech transfer documents etc.)
- Maintain an accurate, timely and compliant laboratory notebook.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Education:
- An ideal candidate would have a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, or a related field with 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical research or laboratory setting or, Ph.D. with 0-3 years of experience.
- Experience with early phase route development and process optimization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of organic chemistry.
- Proficiency in using analytical instruments (HPLC/UPLC, NMR, LCMS) and software.
