Job Summary:
- We are seeking a dedicated and outstanding Scientist II to join our R&D team in Guilford, CT.
- This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation sequencing assays for clinical laboratories.
- In this role, you will be part of a diverse technology team, ensuring accurate operation of sample preparation, instrument calibration and operation, and data analysis.
- With a background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related team, and substantial hands-on laboratory experience, you will play a crucial role in our ambitious projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop next-generation sequencing assays for clinical use.
- Prepare samples, operate instruments, analyze data, and write study protocols and reports.
- Next-generation sequencing applying Ion Torrent Technology.
- Developing diagnostic assays that align with regulatory standards.
- Crafting testing protocols and compiling project reports.
- Product verification and validation processes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology or similar field with 2+ years of industry/academic experience, Master’s degree with limited experience, or equivalent work experience.
- JMP experience a plus.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing, preferably with Ion Torrent Technologies.
- Experience in a clinical or core laboratory facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven skills in molecular biology (including DNA, RNA, and protein handling, PCR, qPCR, quantification methods).
- Knowledge of sequencing and molecular amplification methods.
- Proficiency in basic data analysis and Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of genomics.
- Ability to strictly follow molecular biology protocols.
- Comfort working in a large, collaborative, and busy laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with design control documentation.
