Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Food Technologist/ Laboratory Technician to aid in ingredient applications and functionality evaluations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aid in the development of new ingredient technology for sugar reduction and sodium reduction in client’s food and beverage products.
  • Conduct bench top and pilot plant trials to optimize formulation and processes.
  • Perform functional evaluations of new ingredients and record results.
  • Perform sensory testing of prototypes and coordinate expert panel sensory tests.
  • Perform shelf-life and stability evaluations.
  • Coordinate team evaluations on a regular basis.
  • Submit prototypes for analytical testing and compile results.
  • Communicate with suppliers for ingredient requests and information.
  • Write progress reports.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory and supplies.
  • Ensure laboratory safety.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Food Science or similar field and ?2 min years’ experience.
  • Ability to provide sensory descriptions of foods and beverages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good record-keeping and organization.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Must-haves:

  • Strong work ethic and enthusiasm.
  • Local candidate (relocation not offered).
  • Experience with flavors and sweeteners preferred.
