Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consults with nursing and medical staff on prescription orders, patient reactions, and errors or complaints.
- Conducts drug utilization reviews and prepares drug review criteria for medical staff approval.
- Interprets physicians’ prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines.
- Consults with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions.
- Counsels customers and handles complex problem resolution.
- Performing first and second verification of prescription orders, performing DUR’s, outreach to prescriber offices.
- Fielding phone calls from patients as well as prescriber’s offices.
Education:
- BS or PharmD in Pharmacy.
- PharmD degree preferred.
- MA and CA RPh license required.
Certifications & Licenses:
- MA and CA RPh license.
- Pharmacist License.
Skills & Experience:
- Computer skills, patient counseling skills able to interact with prescribers.
- Accurate, efficient and excellent customer service skills.
- At least one year as a registered pharmacist, retail or similar experience preferred.
Schedule Notes:
- Onsite in Newburyport, MA Training Schedule: 9:00am – 5:30pm for the first two weeks of training
- Regular Schedule: Flexible to choose their hours and shifts, but they must be able to close 3 days a week (closing shift ends at 9pm).
Schedule Hours Per Week: 40.00
Schedule Hours Per Day: 8.00
Schedule Days Per Week: 5.00
