Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consults with nursing and medical staff on prescription orders, patient reactions, and errors or complaints.
  • Conducts drug utilization reviews and prepares drug review criteria for medical staff approval.
  • Interprets physicians’ prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines.
  • Consults with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions.
  • Counsels customers and handles complex problem resolution.
  • Performing first and second verification of prescription orders, performing DUR’s, outreach to prescriber offices.
  • Fielding phone calls from patients as well as prescriber’s offices.

Education:

  • BS or PharmD in Pharmacy.
  • PharmD degree preferred.
  • MA and CA RPh license required.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • MA and CA RPh license.
  • Pharmacist License.

Skills & Experience:

  • Computer skills, patient counseling skills able to interact with prescribers.
  • Accurate, efficient and excellent customer service skills.
  • At least one year as a registered pharmacist, retail or similar experience preferred.

Schedule Notes:

  • Onsite in Newburyport, MA Training Schedule: 9:00am – 5:30pm for the first two weeks of training
  • Regular Schedule: Flexible to choose their hours and shifts, but they must be able to close 3 days a week (closing shift ends at 9pm).

Schedule Hours Per Week: 40.00
Schedule Hours Per Day: 8.00
Schedule Days Per Week: 5.00
