Job Summary:
- The primary role of the Media Prep Technician is to prepare pharmaceutical buffers, agar plates, and tissue culture media for client’s lab operations in Cambridge, MA.
- Formulating buffers, plates and media for the PRD community allows our scientists to focus their time and skills on developing Breakthroughs That Change Patients’ Lives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare buffers and media in final volumes ranging from 100ml to 200L for PRD customers in accordance with formulation documents, standard operating procedures and good lab practices.
- Accurately and legibly record weights, pH and other parameters on formulation worksheets.
- Perform thorough reviews of the formulation worksheets completed by team members.
- Conduct daily checks of stock solutions at customer locations in KSQ1 and KSQ2 to maintain pre-determined inventory levels. When stock levels are low, place orders for replacement solutions in the eSolutions formulation request system.
- Communicate with customers through the Media Prep Team distribution email.
- Place orders for raw materials and solution preparation supplies using client’s purchasing system and vendor-supported managed inventory program.
- Maintain safety and good housekeeping including calibrating and cleaning lab instruments and equipment.
- Follow guidelines and rules set by Media Prep Lab Lead.
Required Education & Skills:
- Associate degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent laboratory experience.
- Math and algebra skills.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting solutions.
- Capable of working independently and organizing work activities.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- One year or more of experience in a similar role with Biopharma.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices and aseptic technique.
- Data extrapolation and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Climb stairs, kneel or crouch to retrieve items.
- Lift up to 44lb(20L) and push and pull carts.
- Perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraints.
- Must be able to perform algebraic mathematical calculations and determine molarity and percentages.
- Autonomously calculates volumes of required solution components based on mathematical calculations.
