Job Description

Job Summary:

  • To provide technical laboratory research effort in support of multiple projects focused on expedited evaluation and the clinical translation of therapies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with research scientist to plan and perform lab-based studies to support project efforts.
  • Work with human and/or rodent tissues to develop and optimize staining and analyses protocol.
  • Achieve business goals, share information, learnings, knowledge and skills and promote cross-functional teamwork.
  • Support project management efforts in standard operating procedure creation, sharing knowledge and skills, and fostering cross-functional teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience post-degree; relevant experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Title dependent on qualifications.
  • Imaging & histology experience required—including experience with sectioning FFPE and OCT-embedded tissue, fixation and staining of tissue, image acquisition.
  • Tissue culture experience is required—including strong aseptic technique and BSL2 stewardship, fixation and staining of cells, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in a team environment required, industry (CRO, pharmaceutical, biotech) experience is preferred.
  • Experience with automated tissue staining equipment, whole slide imaging, and in situ hybridization a plus
  • Experience with automated laboratory equipment, complex machinery, and familiarity of high throughput data production principles are a plus.
  • Experience in basic molecular biology techniques required.
  • Experience working with human samples a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to carry out complex protocols required.
  • Strong analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary data.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite for the role.
  • Role requires proactive communication skills and cross-cultural understanding to interact within a global organization.
  • Must be comfortable in asking for clarification and offering suggestions.
  • Other desirable skills include: propagation and manipulation of iPSC cultures, in vitro genome engineering, advanced cellular imaging and/or high throughput data collection skills, and ability to interpret interdisciplinary data.
  • Strong analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary data.
  • Must love to learn, be ambitious, and be determined to contribute to improving patients’ well-being.

Physical Requirements:

  • No overnight travel required.
  • Works with human and/or animal blood and tissue; works in a laboratory environment that may include hazardous chemicals and blood borne pathogens.
